Dr Coenie Venter graduated from the University of Pretoria in 1997. He did his internship at Kalafong Hospital and this was followed by his community service year at Zeerust Hospital. Thereafter he relocated to the East Rand to partner in a family practice in Primrose where he is serving the community still.
He recently acquired a diploma in diabetes from the University of Cardiff and is actively involved in various aspects of diabetes care and weight loss, both in his own family practice and also in his diabetes clinic in Bedfordview. He still spends time in theatre by doing tonsillectomies, vasectomies and various minor procedures like circumcisions etc.
The aesthetic aspect of his practice started in 2004 during which time he was trained in Botox and non-permanent dermal filler injection techniques. He joined Laserderm during 2012 and is now pursuing aesthetic medicine with passion.
“One should never accept status quo. Constant progression and evolvement is my motto in life and not getting stuck in a comfort zone is one of my main goals. It is in this regard that aesthetic medicine presents me with both a challenge and an opportunity to live my passion and life philosophy. The ageing process, metabolism (obesity, diabetes) and general health are all part of one continuum in our bodies and you can’t treat the one without managing the other.
Nature has given us beauty and the human body and face are two perfect examples thereof. To any prospective patient I would like to say that we should not try to foil the ageing process, but we should merely try to age beautifully and of course maintain our good health during this process. This is my challenge and I see aesthetic medicine as the perfect platform to pursue this.
After all – La vie est belle. “
